Round 3 Recap: 2012 Wells Fargo Championship

The 2012 Wells Fargo Championship final round looks like a headline for Golf’s next top players.  Now that is not entirely fair to the guys in the top ten.  What I mean is that the guys at the top of the leader board this Sunday should be the focus of golf today.  With players like Webb Simpson, Nick Watney, Rory McIlroy (he is a major focus, but he should be the one cameras are following around 24/7/365), Rickie Fowler, Geoff Ogilvy.  Not to mention some of the veterans up on there like John Senden, Stewart Cink, and DA Points.  I won’t go into my rant again about golf and its “chosen” stars, but this weekend is a great reason that we should be spending more time with golf’s newest elite players.

With my 2 cents out of the way back to the golf.  Webb Simpson is looking to score a winner on his home turf.  Webb lives close to Quail Hollow, and besides just a win, this would be a win in front of all his family, friends, and neighbors.  My question is does home club advantage have an actual advantage, or does the extra pressure to preform well nullify any potential benefits.  Webb is playing well and the belly putter is kicking in full force, but will it be enough to keep the lions at bay.

With the group of guys that I mentioned above, Webb is going to have his hands full this afternoon.  If I had my chose of victors I would have to go with Webb or Rory.  I mean there is not much in the golfing world that Rory is not going to take over, I just hope for some good golf this afternoon.  See you guys Monday.

Can Webb fend off Rory and the Gang this Sunday?
