Mr. Weekday is on top after another great two opening rounds, Jason Dufner is the leader in the clubhouse after 36 holes. Who has held the lead after 36 holes more than Jason Dufner in the 2012 season? No one. Jason has been the leader in the clubhouse after 36 holes, quite a few times. And please do not take my semi mean nick name of Jason as a dig, or a negative thing. I really like Dufner’s swing, his demeanor, and his game. He will win his first PGA Tour event very soon, and he won’t seem surprised at all when he does it.
There is a log jam of players within a few shots of the lead. Some of my favorites… Rickie Fowler (PGA Tour rookie of the year, looking for his first PGA Tour victory), Ernie Els (he doesn’t need me to fill in parentheses for anyone to know who he his), Steve Striker, Camilo Villegas, Rocco Mediate: and that is just to name a few.
I love that golf tournaments now are so close after each round. This is really anyone’s tournament at this point. I know I know, its only 36 holes into the event, but anyone on the PGA Tour within 10 shots really does have a chance to win. I was never a big fan of the 10 shot cut rule (anyone within 10 shots of the leader automatically makes the putt), but I do understand it, and I do believe that very soon we are going to see someone go from the cut line, to the finish line in just one weekend.
