After attending the Super golf show at the Dupage Expo Center, I wanted to review the 2011 Chicago Golf Show and how good of a show those folks put on. Because I have lived my whole life in Chicago (short of 4 years for college) I have been to the Chicago Golf Show in Rosemont, close to 20 times. Every year that I can remember there has been a long putt and long drive contest, tons of local golf courses, vacation golf spots, golf equipment companies, as well as some fun merchandise booths. I think the Chicago Golf Show does so well because of the great turn out from the local Chicago Golf Courses, major golf brands, new products and golf ideas in attendance, as well as some really great discount companies (like GolfQpons one of my sponsors).
Having been to the golf industry’s largest convention, the PGA show in Orlando Florida, the Chicago Golf Show does very well in comparison (albeit a much smaller version, but just as professional). With more than 150 exhibitors and thousands of Chicago Land golfers in attendance, the Chicago Golf Show is absolutely worth the $10 charge ($5 on Friday).
Chicago Golf Show Highlights:
- spectacular golf bargains
- win Free golf from Golf Visions
- Chicago’s largest demo days
- free lessons from PGA pros
- Chicago’s longest putt & drive competition
- golf academy stage
- other great golf giveaways and contests
- $5 admission on Friday’s
- Wait for Sunday and you can haggle some great deals
How I like to spend my precious Chicago Golf Show time… Every year I make my feeble attempt at the long drive contest (if I get there early enough on Friday I can be on the board for at least 10-15 mins), I whack a few putts at the long putt contest, and I try out some of the newest drivers by Taylormade and Mizuno (those reps are always there).
I also like to check out the resort courses and golf vacation spots that exhibit as well. You can put together some great golf vay-kays on some killer courses. Don’t just shop the standard golf hot spots like Myrtle Beach, but other venture out to other great locations like Mississippi, Reno, Michigan and tons of others that you would never think about, except that you saw them at the Chicago Golf Show. Plus, every booth basically has a giveaway or contest, so either be prepared to give up your email address or forgo the chance to win some free golf stuff.
Being the Chicago Golf Guy you know that I am going to attend the Chicago Golf Show every year, and enjoy myself just as much as every other die hard golf nut. I must say though the Chicago Golf Show is a great winter golf show, and I will easily put it up against any other golf show in the Midwest, and I am sure that it would come out on top. Don’t forget to search around the show for the Chicago Golf Guy, I will have a few signs and banners up at some of my sponsors booths and I will be giving away a few cool items. What kind of cool stuff?! You will just have to wait and see…
