USGA, R&A Anchored Putter Announcement scheduled for tomorrow AM!

The U.S. Golf Association and R&A will hold a teleconference Wednesday in which it is expected to announce whether there will be a ban on anchored putters. (Click for anchored-putter photo gallery)

Each of the leaders from golf’s governing bodies will be on the 8:30 a.m. ET call: USGA executive director Mike Davis, R&A chief executive Peter Dawson, USGA senior director of rules Thomas Pagel and R&A executive director of rules and equipment standards David Rickman.

Anchoring has become one of the hot-button issues in the sport, after three of the past five major winners used a putter that was affixed to a part of the body.

Note: “Morning Drive” will air coverage of the teleconference live at 8:30 a.m. ET and Jason Sobel will chat live on GolfChannel.com. Davis and Dawson will be live on “Golf Central” at 10 a.m. ET.
