Phil Mickelson’s Hall of Fame induction:

I am a Phil fan hands down.  He is one of the all time greats of the game.  He has 40 PGA Tour wins, he is in the top 10 of the most winningest players in the history of golf, a four time Major champion, and possibly the most charismatic golfer to hit the PGA Tour since Arnold Palmer.  There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that he should be in the World Golf Hall of Fame, but is it too soon?  Should a top player be inducted into their sports hall of fame, prior to their retirement?

I am a firm believer that Phil does have the best years of his golfing career ahead of him.  I believe that he is going to win that elusive US Open in the next five years.  I think above all else (at least at this point in his life) a US Open win is what he wants most from golf.  The man has 5 second place finishes, and I do not believe he will stop playing until he raises a US Open Trophy.  I certainly hope he gets to do it in California in a few weeks.

Phil Mickelson is a world class golfer, but above all else he is a gentlemen.  He represents the game of golf better than anyone, and what he has done for the game off the course alone should qualify him for the hall of fame.  Good Luck this fathers day Phil, we know that most if not all of the golfing world will be pulling for you.
