Round 2 Recap: 2012 Northern Trust Open

Round Two recap of the 2012 Northern Trust Open at Riviera CC in Pacific Palisades California.  Phil Mickelson is still atop the leader board at -6 under shooting a -1 under par 70 in his second round.  Not a great second round but a few shots of brilliance like an eagle two on the par 4 8th.  Mickelson holes out from the fairway with a wedge from 110 yard (in a fashion that only Mickelson can attain).  He also chipped in on 16 and carded 25 putts.  Make me a little nervous that he only hit 8 of 18 greens in the second round though. Hopefully he can keep it going on the weekend, and win two in a row.

Joe Ogilvie‘s 7 iron from 167 yards away makes his 10th career hole in one on Friday on the 16th.  10 hole in ones!?  These guys really are good.  I have played golf my whole life, and I am a pretty darn good player, and I have one hole in one (and that was 13 years ago).  It really is amazing when you hear about a run of the mill PGA Tour player like Joe Ogilvie who has 10 hole in ones.
