I think this is a pretty killer commercial, and it makes golf seem pretty bad ass. I think that golf could use a small push into the modern world of sports. I know what you all are thinking, we don’t need any clown mouths added to Pebble Beach, and Bobby Jones would roll over in his grave if there was billboard advertising in Amen Corner. But wouldn’t it be cool if you could have a little bit of excitement to the game of golf.
I love golf. I love the traditions, the honor in the game, the ability to test yourself against nature, and actually have a score to walk away with. I think Nike is doing a great job of bringing golf into the modern age, even though golf is coming kicking and screaming the whole way. One day soon we will figure out how to post a birdie on Facebook, or Tweet my back nine score. Either way I like what this commercial suggests, that golf can change and we can make it as fun or crazy as we like.
